The Great Concert, an annual event that commemorates the celebrated Leipzig orchestra’s first concert in 1743, will be streamed on the web live on February 18 at 8pm (CET), and thereafter available to view for free for three weeks. Riccardo Chailly, the Gewandhausorchester’s Kappellmeister, conducts a Dvořák programme that opens with the Carnival Overture, then Leonidas Kavakos joins them to play the Violin Concerto, and the concert closes with the Seventh Symphony.
